Day 28/100
A picture of your favorite place in the world.
Private Villa in the Dominican Republic. Gorgeous cliff-side views, colorful landscaping, tiered beaches made for an amazing backdrop. The wide open living area, patios spanning the house along the back yard, 2 wings of the villa provided plenty of privacy between the four rooms. On suite bathrooms for each room, an infinity pool, a well stocked kitchen and a table for 10 were some wonderful added amenities. My personal favorite was the outdoor showers, well worn stone for a floor and thick foliage to provide some privacy (though my youngest nephew's curiosity forged a way around that). The weather was wonderful. It rained every night cooling things off only to give way to the sun rising to warm the day. The northern side of the island lent itself wonderfully to beautiful sunrises and sunsets. From the beach it was only a 20-30 min. drive to the mountains. To go a quarter of a mile up and look out over the island was an amazing site. Another great feature is the fresh water pools hidden among the foothills. When the 90 degree weather becomes too much, these waters provided a nice 60 degree cool down. Fresh coffee, cocoa and sugar cane made the most simple of dishes delicious.
That was one AMAZING vacation! Wonder how well Jess and I could settle there? Who am I kidding we couldn't live away from our family, guess they'll have to move too. I'm sure we could bring a lot to the area. I'm not one much on tourism, but I'd like to think that we could help provide some valuable education to the locals as well as some sort of service that would be valued by both islanders and main-landers alike. As many houses that I saw with an over abundance of "stuff" scattered about, and the many more villas that were "vacation homes", there must be need of a storage facility. Maybe renewable energy upgrades could be an option. Time to start looking at some business options that could turn a profit as well as benefit the area.
