Day 38/100
A picture of your favorite food.
The Saxapahaw General Store has grown greatly in notoriety. The growth of this small business has allowed for the expansion to the other end of the mill where The Eddy Pub now resides. With news channels, papers and bloggers taking notice of this renovated mill it is easy to see why the place is always crowded. If you can stretch your patience there is a humble ambiance, multiple design details and people watching a-plenty to take in while waiting for a table or bar stool (or even a couch near a window). All of their recipes are based on local product availability. Many of the local farmers sell produce in the general store and even set up for weekend farmer's markets in the parking lot. My personal favorite, the short ribs. Alas, those are not pictured because I was too eager to stop and take a picture of them before digging in. However, I do have what is left of what may be my second favorite, The Eddy's pork carnitas. The sauce plays well with the mashers and the bell peppers are cooked to be tender and still crisp. You will find no need of a knife as the meat falls apart with a simple stab and twist of your fork. (This seems to be the trend with all their carnivorous plates.) This alone can make a wonderful end to the day, but if you have a sweet tooth they have a wonderful menu for that as well, though personally, I recommend a nice sugar cane soda over the almond chocolate truffle.
Life's short. Eat well. Take dessert first.
