Keys

Day 89/100
A picture of you at a hotel.

On our honeymoon, my wife and I stayed at a wonderful B&B a block away from historic Williamsburg, VA. A nice bit of character in historic areas would be the keys. It would be an easy update to get rid of old doors and update the locks, easy, however it is unnecessary and not recommended. With the growing technology of access control and key-less entry, these antiques can tell a story.

What can a key tell us? A small key would indicate a small lock, possibly little resistance. A large key in turn says, "I'm kind of a big deal." The teeth on a key show us how complicated the locking mechanism is. Most antiques will also show wear and tear giving us clues as to it's use. What kind of metal is it made of? Common iron for a commoner or the soft metal of gold for a more delicate lock? The stories are there, we just have to pay attention.

Kinda makes me wonder, what kind of clues would the keys to Heaven and Hell give away?
