Failure. (See March 21st)

Day 21/100
A picture of something you wish you could forget.

It appears I have failed the hundred day challenge. I can honestly say that there is nothing I truly with I could forget. I've had some bad experiences and made some bad choices. I don't have any pictures of any of those bad decisions or any of the experiences. I've let down friends; I've hurt the ones I love; seen people in great pain (physical and emotional) and done nothing; I've used people for personal gain; I've even turned against my own beliefs for self-preservation. None of these were highlights of my life, yet, those choices have let me to where I am today. If I forget even one horrible thing in my life then I do myself a disservice of forgetting the lesson learned. Never forget.

The Air Up There.

Day 20/100
A picture of somewhere you'd love to travel.

Unlike the Kevin Bacon film, I have no desire to do this for religious reasons or professional gain. However, like Kevin Bacon, I do look forward to this as an even of personal significance. I've heard stories of people's experiences. I'm intrigued by the stories of arriving in the mountain top city during sunrise and the winding journey through the mountains. Alternatively I have heard horrors of the site overrun by pushy and boisterous tourists. It's the challenge and the mystery that seems to draw me to this locale. One change of clothes and toiletries, the rest of my pack weight will be found in camera equipment. Who needs food?

It's a Real Nail-Biter.

Day 19/100
A picture of a habit you wish you didn't have.

So I don't know if this is really a habit I wish I didn't have. I know that Jess would scream for joy if I would just stop biting my nails. I think right after taking this picture she smacked my hand. Most of the time I find myself scraping my teeth or sliding the underside of my nail over the edge of my teeth. Only when I'm really nervous do I start chewing and ripping my nails off. Sometimes I take a little piece. Sometimes it's a matter of taking care of hang nails. On the even more rare occasion there is blood, and maybe a tear in my eye. So maybe in the respect of more painful moments, yes, I wish I had never started biting my nails.

...where the heart is.

Day 18/100
A picture of your favorite place.

Sunday afternoons with the in-laws. Nope, no sarcasm here and you read the day's picture title right. This is absolutely something that I love. "Sharing a meal is a way to connect, to nourish our bodies, our minds, and our relationships" from Shift Your Habit, page 64. It really is something to sit around a table with people you can trust and share more than food with. There is something about knowing that the food you are about to eat was prepared with care. Unlike the care that can go into restaurant food, I mean, that cook doesn't have to eat what they make. Another great thing is multiple soft places to lay down and nap after a good meal. There are plenty of chairs to catch the sun and feel warm. The great things of being at the in-laws could easily become a list of iconic joys: laughter of children, sound of children playing, great food, comfy chairs, beautiful scenery, rocking chairs on the porch. Really, if you doubt how great this place is, I'd love to bring you and show you...I probably need to ask first.

Inadvertant Advertising

Day 17/100
A picture of your biggest insecurity.

No, it's not falling off a cliff. It's failure. I'm not really in the mood to elaborate on this subject. Maybe it's due to my insecurity that I will fail to properly explain myself. Maybe it's because I want this blog to be mildly entertaining, and if I get too wordy you'll just go off somewhere else, proving that I've failed. Or maybe, you could go to failblog.com to see more of this insecurity in a much more humorous light.
